What is at Flogstavägen 1B?

Ängsklockan is a residential area completed in 2020. According to Nationsgårdarna, through which the nation's housing foundation lets its homes, it has 388 one-room flats with kitchen and 14 corridor rooms. The builder Lindbäcks described the project as four buildings of six storeys when the construction contract was signed in 2019. Flogstavägen 1B is one of the addresses in the area: the foundation states that residents at Flogstavägen 1B may also use the bike rooms in the buildings at Flogstavägen 1C–E.

The flats are 25–40 square metres. The corridor rooms are 20–27 square metres, have their own shower and toilet and share a kitchen with two or three other rooms in the corridor.

How rent and living work

Flats and corridor rooms differ, and that affects what you pay each year.

  • Flats: rent is paid twelve months a year. Heating is included. Electricity and water are not, but you sign no contract of your own – your actual use is added to the rent invoice.
  • Corridor rooms: rent is paid ten months a year, as July and August are rent-free. Electricity, heating and water are included.
  • Both: the homes are let unfurnished and broadband from Bredband2 is included in the rent.

Each building has its own laundry room booked with a tag, up to ten slots a month. The flats have a French balcony and there is a lift. Residents also get free membership of the OurGreenCar electric car pool.

Current rents for a specific flat are shown in the listing at Nationsgårdarna, as they vary by size.

How to get a home at Flogstavägen 1B

Homes in Ängsklockan are not let through the municipal housing queue but through the nation's own queue. The steps according to V-Dala nation:

  1. Become a member of V-Dala nation. The housing foundation only lets to members of the nation, and under Nationsgårdarna's application rules you must also study full time at a university or college in Uppsala.
  2. Create a profile with Nationsgårdarna. This puts you in the housing queue.
  3. Collect queue points. You get one point per semester as a member. Some roles at the nation give extra points.
  4. Apply for the homes that are released. Your queue points decide your place in the queue.

At the start of each semester the nation usually also holds a lottery giving a few rooms to newly arrived students, usually in so-called "tripletter" in another of the nation's areas. The lottery can be a way to get a roof over your head during your first semester while you collect points.

If you are not a student or do not get a place

A sublet can be a way in meanwhile. Check that the first-hand tenant has the landlord's permission to sublet and that the rent is reasonable for the flat.
